My best birthday ever was capped off by the semi-final Cricket World Cup game between India and Pakistan --- which, any Indian we spoke to confirmed was more important than even winning in the final. We went to the local mall to watch in their court yard.
We're guessing there were about 2 thousand people jammed together in this space... Pretty intense.
I don't intend to explain how cricket is played in this post, but I would recommend the wikipedia post on cricket for more details if your interested.
That said, I caught on video the moment when India *really* won. Near the end of the game Pakistan didn't have enough chances left to score all the points they needed to win, so the crowd was celebrating the de facto victory. But when that final pop ball was caught - definitively ending the game - the crowd went crazy! See below:

We were safe amongst our group of friends, but being able to celebrate this moment with the crowd was amazing!Just as an indication of how important this win was to India, in celebration of the victory, the Times of India changed all their headlines to the team color: blue.
