So I met my first Call center employee today. His shift today was from 8pm to 4 in the morning. - though sometimes he works from 3 in the morning until 11.
He works for 2 for 1 Pizza, based in Toronto - along with 25 other employees.
That's right. He works for a pizza joint. When people in Toronto want to order a pizza, they call India. In India, they type the person's name, address, phone, and pizza order into a computer. This gets sent over the internet to Toronto where some guy in a kitchen makes a pizza and some kid with a GPS takes the pizza to the address.
Apparently Torontoans place about 2500 orders/day at 2 for 1 pizza. enough so that even a pizza joint is outsourcing labor to India.
Wow.
