Not quite the welcome we imagined...

So - we're finally back in Lucknow after our 3 week adventure in northern India and Bangladesh (see Part 1 here, Part 2 here, Part 3 coming soon) ...

We bid a sad farewell to my folks this morning in Delhi. It made us very homesick to see them off - but we did have a lot of fun during their time here and I'm hoping to post about their escapades soon.

We got back to our apartment around 4:30 this afternoon and we were ready to just be back and unpack after so much time in hotels ... we knew it wasn't going to be for long because we needed move to another apartment of students in our building this weekend (long story short, no new students came this semester so the empty apartments needed to do a little shuffling).

Imagine our surprise when there was no electricity in our apartment - and the sun was setting. Our landlord - to save a buck or twom I suppose - decided to cut off our electricity while we were away, even though we had paid him rent until at least Jan 10th. Because we were quickly losing daylight hours we shoved some things left in the apartment back into our suitcases and just moved that stuff downstairs to the new apartment (sort of lucky we have some clean clothes at least) ...

But we're pissed! He owes us for a favor we did for him ... hell, we even spoke to him on the phone today about that favor ... and he didn't have the decency to tell us he'd cut off the electricity to our apartment.

(sigh) ... not quite the welcome back we had been expecting.
