Makin Tabla.

Picture Time!

The first photo is Mefus Sahib scraping the extra syahi massala off of a baya (larger left hand drum in the tabla pair). the next is his 13 year old nephew Salman lacing up the badhi (laces) that attach the tabla head (pudi) to the body (kundi). After that there are some pictures of me polishing, and then Mefus starting to weave a gajara (the rawhide ring that goes around the tabla head.
this should hopefully give you and idea of what a "tabla workshop" looks like!!
